FOQL

Last year we did an amazing event with Brutaz in Warsaw at Club Poglos, before the event we led a discussion where we were introduced to FOQL who runs Oramics, one of a few Polish agency/collective representing women talent out there. We learned about the hardships of pushing Feminist principles within such a conservative context, making their efforts so much more remarkable. FOQL, primarily a producer who created this mix using multiple mediums, is one of the steering artist in the emerging progressive scene, offering us a set of pure intensity incorporating noise and techno, staying at boiling point and keeping us on our toes. Mix & Q&A below :)

Tell us about this mix:

It is a mixture of different tastes, stuff I recently dig here and there. Lot of new music and female artists (they just happen to create my fav art basicaly). I prefer to call it "mixtape" cause I am using all sources - vinyls, tapes and digital together.

When did you start DJing?

I do not like to call myself DJ because I am not interested in DJing in this club-sense of being entertainer. I am deep into experimental music, noise music, cut up and sound collage, coincidences. I am mostly live performer (99% gigs ...) so playing someone elses records is just one more, weird and alien field for experimentation for me. In Oramics crew ISNT and Moli are much more into techno and dance music. I am the one always putting more light on women in experimental music.

First gig:

Live electronic gig with my old electro punk project Ebola during illegal rave in the forest.
Or if we count music school - first violin solo concert when I was 7.

Favorite party ever played:

Rete Neurale Milano at Macao

Fave DJ:

Pandoras Jukebox, Elena Sizova
and recently my new heroin - DJ MARCELLE

Fave producer:

Impossible to answer

Pet peeve when DJing:

Well ... while I am playing cassettes it's really annoying when people ask "WHY U USING TAPES???"
I mean - why not? :) There are so many great tapes!!!

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten?

Place you’d like to play:

South America

Something you want everyone to know about you:

fool
this is how you pronounce my artist name ;)))
