VTSS

Welcoming VTSS to the DW roster! We’ve known VTSS for a couple of years now through our collaborations with Warsaw party/label Brutaz. We’ve watched her blossom or rather transform into the rising princess of demonic techno. Mostly playing live, her release “Self Will” on SPFDJ’s label Intrepid Skin has received rave reviews. The same spirit that exists in her productions is reflected in her mix for us, super industrial, evil, cathartic techno that will wake you the fuck up. Check out her mix and Q&A below:

Tell us about this mix:

The mix is quite intense, even for my taste. When I put it all together I wanted to maybe rerecord it so it's super clean and all, but one of my 2019 resolutions is to learn to let some things go, do best and try super hard of course but not to obsess over being perfect.
The mix is definitely straight right to it kinda vibe. It contains tracks in many of my fave electronic music styles (ebm, techno, electro, trance, rave etc) including many released and unreleased tracks by my talented friends, that I'm super grateful for. The mix was recorded using my wifey's SPFDJ home dj setup - 2 decks, 2 cdjs.

When did you start DJing?

Started djing pretty much the same time I started making music. When I expressed interest in djing one of my polish dj friends (shouts to Pitti) basically made me start collecting records and told me he will help me (by borrowing the decks) only when I have enough records collected and whatever I wanna do next - I need to learn how to play vinyl first.

First gig:

June 2015, a party in Warsaw hosted by mentioned before Pitti, who borrowed me a spare pair of decks he had somewhere literally 10 days before the gig.

Favorite party ever played:

Herrensauna back at Bertrams, in February 2017, where I played live, which was my first gig outside of my home country Poland. Also my first Brutaż was really special. And Unsound 2017.

Fave DJ:

Freddy K, Hector Oaks, Helena Hauff, DJ TORRENTZ.EU, RRRKRTA

Fave producer:

Phase Fatale, Ancient Methods, ADAM X, The Mover(& Marshall Masters),

Pet peeve when DJing:

When you tell a DJ playing after you that you have an outro and want to play it all through till the end and then he/she mixed the first track right into yours and cuts its and starts playing!!! Also shitty needles and bad booth isolation.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten?

A couple of months back by this amazing German producer and performer - that he envies my courage to do whatever I feel like and the kind of music I do is the future for techno (referring to my live act).

Obviously, I think he went kinda overboard with that hehe, nevertheless - was very nice and didn't see that coming from him, especially since our music couldn't be more different.

Place you’d like to play:

Can't wait for some South America action! But also everywhere where there are people willing to dance and listen to me.

Something you want everyone to know about you:

I'm one of this sad-faced (or bitch-faced hehe) clowns.
